James Clifford's priotities
Your choice at this election is straightforward. You can vote for a strong local voice working for you:
Labour's war on motorists
I completely oppose Labour's war on motorists which affects Newham residents every day. Low Traffic Neighbourhoods, Controlled Parking Zones and the expansion of the Ultra Low Emission Zone into Greater London are prime examples.
I also completely oppose the Blackwall Tunnel toll charge that Labour are planning to introduce in 2025. This will cost hard-working families, small businesses and charities thousands of pounds a year to simply cross the River Thames.
I will stand up for all residents whether you drive or use public transport.
Protecting our green spaces and housing
Plaistow North has very limited green spaces as we have seen Labour building large developments on them. This has resulted in every local resident being deprived of safe spaces for all of us to enjoy.
I also agree that we need more affordable housing, but it must not be developed in our parks or on our green spaces. I also want to see more family sized houses being built rather than one and two bedroom flats that are currently being built.
Cutting crime and anti-social behaviour
Under Labour, violent crime and anti-social behaviour has increased significantly in Newham. Whilst the Conservatives have recruited a record number of Police Officers, they are not visible in our community.
I will fight to put more Police on our streets, increase the number of CCTV cameras in our area and improve our street lighting. This way we can tackle the increase in crime and anti-social behaviour that Labour have caused.
Street cleanliness and fly-tipping
In Plaistow fly-tipping is commonplace with rubbish and furniture left lying around the streets for weeks on end. The Labour Council are not taking this issue seriously enough. I will fight for better fly-tipping collection services and higher fines for repeat offenders.
I will also demand for more bins to be placed in the area as there are not enough and where they are placed they are overflowing. It is important that we clean up our streets and I will fight for that.

- Drivers' tax - Labour installed the Low Traffic Neighbourhoods and Controlled Parking Zones and now plan to charge to use the Blackwall Tunnel.
