At the next general election the boundaries of parliamentary constituencies will be changing to better equalise the number of voters each MP represents. The current West Ham constituency will be especially affected by this as at present it has the third largest electorate in the entire country.
The new boundaries will see significant changes with the London Boroughs of Newham and Tower Hamlets going from a total of four constituencies at present to five. The current West Ham seat will be split broadly in two. Canning Town, Custom House, Plaistow and the West Ham ward will be joining with Beckton, North Woolwich and Silvertown from the current East Ham constituency to form the new "West Ham & Beckton" constituency. Forest Gate, Maryland, Stratford and the Green Street West ward will be joining with Bow from the current Bethnal Green & Bow constituency and Bromley North from the current Poplar & Limehouse constituency to form the new "Stratford & Bow" constituency.
The local Conservative Party has been reorganised around these new boundaries. This website will go forward as the website for the West Ham & Beckton Conservative Association. It will retain historic content and will steadily be updated to match the incoming constituency.
